"Of all that is written, I love only what a person has written with his own blood"
~Friedrich Nietzsche

Introducing Jack Crowley the Blood Artist from California. Using the lifeforce to create his paintings of macabre and infamous persons from history.Ranging from cult leaders to serial murders his art takes on a whole new idea for using bodily fluids. The life and personality jumps right out from his paintings literally. Even all star satanic serial murderer Richard Ramirez has some of his ghoulish blood curdling delights. Let's see what is on the agenda from this bloodied artist and give him our bloody support.

Q: Please let us know your name ?

A: Jack Crowley

Q: Where are you from and how old are you ?

A: I'm 29, and I currently live in CA.

Q: Give a brief history of where you got the idea come to create the form of art you are doing ?

A: I got the idea in college back in 1995, after going to museums and looking at endless amounts of shitty "art". (I'm referring to hacks like Jackson Pollock that get drunk and throw paint over their shoulder onto a canvas and call it art). Nobody is doing anything original or unique at all, so I figured that painting with blood would be both original and shocking. Also,I like seeing people get shocked and revolted, yet still say it's good. As far as I know, I’m the only person that paints portraits with real blood.

Q: How and when did you get interested in art and occultism ?

A: I have been interested in art since I was little kid. All I drew were monsters and blood. Various cartoon characters being killed in sinister ways. All the normal stuff kids draw.

Q: What are your influences ?

A: It all started with Ray Harryhausen and all his work, horror movies, Bosh, Dali, W.S. Burroughs, Hunter Thompson, Rick Baker, Tom Savini, Rob Bottin, Kenneth Anger, Aleister Crowley, Hitler, etc..............

Q: What type of blood is it and where do you get all of it ?

A: The blood is mostly from rattlesnakes I catch in the desert, but some of it is human too (not mine). I'm not exactly sure where some of it comes from. I know some Nazi, satanism-freaks that live in the desert that I get it from sometimes. I eat the snakes I catch. Snake meat cooks good on a George Foreman grill. Now nobody can claim it's "cruel".

Q: Does the blood hold any spiritual power for you and if so is that why you use it?

A: Personally, the blood holds no meaning or spiritual power at all. I don't believe in anything supernatural at all, so it's just a matter of availability. Snakes are like long tubes of blood that taste good. I would never kill cats or dogs, for the record. A hippie, maybe.

Q: What is the process you go through to create one of these paintings?

A: I collect and store it in the refrigerator until I have enough to paint with. Then, after the first layer dries, I come back and apply more to make it darker in certain areas.

Q: Have you showed your art off to anyone in galleries ?

A: The only gallery shows I can get are at this place in LA called 'C.I.A', which is a circus-freak theme club. I do most of my business online. It reaches a much larger audience. Normal galleries are way to freaked out to display anything that is "controversial" or different.

Q: Have their been any (in)famous people who have bought from you and if so can you name a few ?

A: The only infamous person that has paid cash-money for my work is Merle Allin, from GG Allin and the Murder Junkies. He bought every last thing I had when I lived in NY. He still says he has it on display in his place. Other than that, Richard Ramirez has a few drawings and pictures and stuff of mine. I knew him for 7 years, so in that time I’ve sent him some really crazy shit.

Q: What are some of your politics or religious beliefs ?

A: My politics can only be described as terrorism. The book 'Hunter' is my bible. I don't believe in somefictitious semite-lie from 2000 years ago. Religion, in my opinion, is nothing but a bullshit control tactic for idiots. Money is my god.

Q: What is behind the imagery you chose ?

A: I choose the subjects for my paintings on people that I like, and also what will sell. I paint to make money and amuse myself, I hate art. Art is for losers. Art school is college for drug-addicts.

Q: How many paintings have you done ?

A: All together I think it's about 12. Not including the dead carnival freak gaffs I make.

Q: Have you had any situations with the authorities because of your art ?

A: Not yet.

Q: What types of music are your favorites ?Bands and genres?

A: I grew up listening to punk and Oi, but there was also the Doors and Zeppelin and stuff like that. I'm not a big music fan now. I like my bands to live their part, like GG Allin, The Mentors, RAC, Ethnic Cleansing, Slayer, etc, etc.......

Q: What are your favorite art, books (please include authors), & movies if any ?

A: As far as art, I like Bosh, Dali, Giger, Rob Bottin, Rick Baker, Dick Smith, Steve Johnson. As far as authors, I like Burroughs, Clive Barker, Crowley, etc.... There's way to many movies to list. I like anything underground and rare, like 'Even Dwarves Started Out Small', 'Terror in Tiny Town', 'Human Meat Pies', any Kenneth Anger film, 'Blood Sucking Freaks', etc............

Q: What do we expect soon from you ?

A: I'm currently working on 3 blood portraits. Dahmer, G.W. Bush, and Shaye Saint John.

Q: Anything else you would like to add ?

A: The only thing that I would like to add is more money in my pocket.

Thank you.
