Hailing out of the blackest parts of Finland comes Infidelic, An infidel, in common usage, is one who denies Christianity and the truth of the Scriptures. Some have endeavored to widen the sense of infidel so as to embrace atheism and every form of unbelief; but this use does not generally prevail. A freethinker is now only another name for an infidel. An unbeliever is not necessarily a disbeliever or infidel, because he may still be inquiring after evidence to satisfy his mind; the word, however, is more commonly used in the extreme sense. A deist believes in one God and a divine providence, but rejects revelation. An atheist denies the being of God. A sceptic is one whose faith in the credibility of evidence is weakened or destroyed, so that religion, to the same extent, has no practical hold on his mind. An agnostic remains in a state of suspended judgment, neither affirming nor denying the existence of a personal Deity. Now let us hear from Infidelic in this dark time of persecution.

Q: Please let us know your name?

A: Sami Ville-Petteri Lintula, just call me Ville.

Q: Where are you from and how old are you?

A: Loimaa, Finland. In a week I will be 22.

Q: What is it like in Finland?

A: If there is a sanctuary in the world, I'd say Finland is it. It will be a real shame if Russia will some day conquer this land and consume it as it has done with everything else. Though it doesn't have such high propability since Finland really doesn't have anything of high value.

Q: Give a brief history of where you got the idea come to create your solo project Infidelic?

A: Infidelic is a collaboration of many things. First things was I wanted to try something musically different, other thing was that I wanted really to express my thoughts, which I really wasn't doing with Decay, except maybe in a overwhelmingly abstract way. I had tried this before with Decay but it didn't carry that well. I tried it again with Depravity, but it was done in the frame of christianity so it really got nowhere. One major part of Infidelic is my interest in history, which I use like a mirror.

Q: Why did you stop Decay?

A: I had just had enough. I was tired of writing fantasy stories that had very, very, very little meaning inside. How long can bullshit splatter interest anyone. But it was a fun project while it lasted. Over four years. Though I tried to revive it couple times, no, it's just over for me.

Q: How long have you been doing Infidelic what are your influences?

A: I started writing the first song "Infidelic" in May 2003 under the name Depravity, but since Infidelic sounded much better and suited my needs better I changed the name. I have listened to Iron Maiden since I was twelve, and now I'd consider it, again, as my favourite band, so that has been perhaps the srongest influence. Other is of course Immolation, those who know them will notice that thing first in the first demo, the second demo had more influence from celtic metal bands, i.e. Bran Barr, Heol Telwen, Absu, Belinus etc.

Q: What type of musick do you consider Infidelic?

A: I have no idea. I call it "kelttihevi" in my speech, which translates close as celtic heavy metal. I don't really care what people call it as. Some say war, many doom, some death, and with the last release the celtic influences have become more apparent.

Q: What is your political and religious beliefs?

A: My political opinions are very obscure since I like the old clan system. But it has its great weakness. If there are many small tribes, some asshole will always try to rule many and counquer and enslave as much as he can, aswell as if there will be big countries, they will fall apart by strife and wars will be much bloodier than with smaller tribes.
Accepting clan system requires acceptance of different philosophy including reincarnation and different values in life. Celtic system worked rather well untill their neigbours did exactly what I mentioned above.
This all means aswell that I value simple living, I am not very fond of this western culture.
My religion and philosophy is close to what druids taught in their time. We are surrounded by gods (forces of nature as well as virtues, in reality) and a supreme God, which they referred as the "source". My intepretation of that is Mother Earth, but it might have been more abstract concept in their time. In short we live again and again, learning about existence through our countless lives and living our carma.

Q: What do you think of Christians?

A: I hate every religion that forces itself unto others. People should have the right to believe in what they want, without fear, of course as long as it doesn't involve killing other people as sacrifice to their gods or what ever.

Q: What is behind the songs of Infidelic?

A: I try to follow the traditional song structures while trying to keep up a epic feel to it. I've always loved epic songs, like Sign of the Cross and Paschendale etc. But my writing has always been fairly technical, so there is that side to it aswell, but I'm changing to more riff-oriented song writing. Clear structures with repetitions giving the emotional heavyness instead of riff after riff chaos.

Q: What are the lyrics about in the band?

A: Some of the songs have political opinions in them, some clearer than others. Mainly about history, which can be reflected to our time aswell. Most of them follow the pattern "how civilization has fucked up the 'barbarians' and their descendants". How certain nations are just wanted dead, just because what they are. The "civilized" civilization. Rome never left this world.

Q: What is the imagery you are trying to convey thru the media you have chosen?

A: I don't know anything about any imagery, but if someone thinks he is seeing Conan splitting skulls while browsing though my website and listening to my songs, heck, I'm all happy with that. What I am trying to do, is give an alternative, as the neo-druidic churches are, in a way. Reminding of past things, and reflecting them on our days. Reminding that things haven't changed as much as we think they have. Don't get me wrong, I'm not warmongering here, just trying to shake your heads a bit. Civilizations are living organisms like everything else, they are born, they flourish, and they die once they have corrupted from the inside, which seems to be the point where we are at. Remember the true nature of man, and what he was originally here to do, instead of what he is doing now. We are equals with nature in every way, not above in any.

Q: How many official releases does Infidelic have?

A: Two promotional demos so far. Tongue of Barbarian Peoples, which was very dismissed by people on its release, but in time will play significant role once people start to see the whole picture that I am painting. The second, Celtii was better done, no question about that, and that is also the style towards which I'm going for.

Q: Has Infidelic played live and if so with who and where?

A: No live performances. Single-man-show would be rather hilarious wouldn't it? But if I had a band around me, maybe. It's just so hard to find like-minded players.

Q: What types of music are your favorites? Bands and genres?

A: I've gone past my genre era. I don't classify things that much anymore. Reason being that it is a waste of time since I like so few bands anymore. I like Iron Maiden but don't enjoy other heavy metal that much. There are few death metal bands that I enjoy, but I don't like the genre anymore. I also like Absu and Heol Telwen but don't like black metal at all, I never have. Though I've come to appreciate black metal in a different way, since part of that has inherited thoughts from pagan religions and cultures, but for the most part it's just teenage idiots with emotional issues acting out and making asses out of themselves. I also like Riverdance, no matter how gay it might sound. And Cruachan.

Q: What are your favorite art, books, movies?

A: I've read a pile of fantasy books, and lately I've tried to read history little here and there, but never really getting into any subject. History is so fucking wide that it's hard to read more than a bit at a time, in order to put anything into memory and learn from it. And back to the question, I read Tolkien and thought he had written the best fantasy novel ever, and then I read Tad Williams' Misery, Memory & Thorn saga and thought it was the greatest, or was it the other way round. I still admire Robert E. Howards writing, though I think he goes over the top from time to time, but he had a terrific style. Eddings has great characters, the stories are excuses for a book, but the character development and see them act is hilarious. I like epic historical movies. Fuck. I like all epic movies. Braveheart is the greatest historical epic ever made. Conan the Barbarian is a classic, and spectacular thinking it was made over twenty years ago.

Q: What do we expect soon from Infidelic?

A: I will make a split, hopefully in the Summer, with a band that makes sense to Infidelic. Some one who aggrees at least at some part the agenda of Infidelic.

Q: Anything else you would like to add?

A: My apologies for such long exhausting answers. I just felt I had something to say.
