From the depths of the electronick black metal hell comes a new entity to the scene.Serpent Eclipse are a new breed of black metal with a current twist of technology to the sound. The death nerve twitches for more from this new comer.
Hail the mighty Serpent Eclipse!!!

Q: Where did you get the name Serpent Eclipse and what does it mean?

A: It's just one of those things that came to me one night years ago. I liked the possible hidden meanings you can interpret from the name.. To me it's a very visual title and different images come to mind each time I think about it.

Q: How long has Serpent Eclipse been invoked on Earth? And Where did it come from?

A: Since 1995. Back then, S.E. was an ambient/experimental project. I did some compilation tapes and that was about it. Then, a couple of years ago I began working on new material, and it seemed natural to continue on with the name even though the style has changed completely.

Q: Why the different approach to Black Metal? Why did you choose a more electronic sound for Serpent Eclipse?

A: That's how it has to be. I wanted to create Black Metal that retained the atmosphere of early releases, but brought something new as well. There have been Black Metal bands that have taken on electronic elements over the past few years, but most try to be something they're not and stray away from metal. Serpent Eclipse is a metal project first and foremost, and my other influences blend in as well.

Q: What is your religious beliefs?

A: I don't have any.

Q: What do you think of Christians?

A: They're silly, but have provided good reading in the newspapers over the past year with all of these pedophile priests.

Q: What does Serpent Eclipse sing about?

A: There's usually not a particular topic or lyrical approach. The lyrics are written when the music is complete. Whatever words or themes seem to fit are what is used. Sometimes the lyrics are improvised or written on the spot. One the new CD, "The Seven Desires & Wolves' Blood", the first song is called "A Sorcerer's Suicide" in which through his death, portals of vile plagues, fantasy and evil are opened. The other tracks speak of the aftermath in their own surreal or abstract way.

Q: When did you start Void Sector Recordings,And what has it released?

A: It began a few years ago simply as an outlet to release my work. I released the Void II Void - "The Symbol & The Shrine" CD, Serpent Eclipse - "Thy Bleeding Heavens" promotional demo CD as well as a promo version of the new mini cd.

Q: How many official releases does Serpent Eclipse have?

A: Just one - "The Seven Desires & Wolves' Blood" which was released this month on France's Adipocere Records/Oaken Shield.

Q: Has Serpent Eclipse played live?

A: Never. Maybe someday, but what keeps this project interesting to me is that it's a studio project.

Q: How many people are in the band currently?

A: Myself and a couple of others, though I'm not sure if they're real or not.

Q: How old are you?

A: 26

Q: What types of music are your favorites?Bands and genres?

A: Metal as always - Venom, Celtic Frost, Vader, Maiden, Bathory, old Mayhem, Morbid Angel. I listen to a lot of 70's rock/fusion/experimental - Deep Purple, Goblin, ELP, Gentle Giant, Mclaughlin, DiMeola, The Residents, Philip Glass. Also, certain Industrial/electronic projects - Skinny Puppy, Tangerine Dream, Aphex Twin, Ministry, and many others.

Q: What is the local scene around you like?

A: I don't pay much attention to it. There's lots of bands I suppose, but nothing special that I know of.

Q: Are you or any of your members involved in side projects?

A: Once in awhile I work on my other project called danger on the stairs. Hopefully something will be released eventually. It's a unique approach to harsh Industrial.

Q: What are your favorite movies,or TV shows?

A: Favorite movies would have to be Suspiria, The Omen, The Exorcist, Braveheart, A Clockwork Orange, and lots of old Hammer films. I don't watch much TV; I like to watch episodes of old shows like Dark Shadows and The Prisoner though.

Q: What do we expect soon from Serpent Eclipse?

A: "The Seven Desires & Wolves' Blood" mini CD is out now, but I'm still waiting for my copies from Adipocere/Oaken Shield. Once they arrive, I'll have copies for sale. I also have S.E. T-shirts available. Check the site at Void Sector for more info. Plenty of new material is in the works, though no label deal has been worked out for the next release.

Q: Anything else you would like to add?

A: Thanks for your support and good luck with everything.
