ALARMING ECHO BEATS AND FECAL-MATTER DISCORPORATED INTERVIEW WITH HINYOUKI

Undinism is when a person has sexual thoughts about or is aroused by water, urine, and urination. Cristina Bosco and Crypt Vihâra are Hinyouki, a noise group from Spain, influenced by Merzbow, Maurizio Bianchi, K2 or Death Squad. A mixture of abstract and harsh noise,Hinyouki works with concepts such as goldenshowers, pee perversions, and watersports. This noise comcept is the perfect piss plus noise shots bliss!Let us delve into the creators minds to see what make make up Hinyouki...

Q: How long has Hinyouki been around and where did you get the name Hinyouki?

Crypt: Hinyouki has been around since 1993. 'Hinyouki' is a Japanese common term that means 'urinary organs'. About where did we get the name, better ask Cristina, the history of the Hinyouki's name is a personal and bawdy one. The people that wants to hear our work should expect a paradoxical mixture of abstract and harsh noise, with lewd concepts such as goldenshowers, pee pervertions and watersports. Hinyouki is the perfect piss+noise shots!

Cristina: I should add that Hinyouki was, during 1990s, the name of my project and the name of my works because I didn't found another title with such glamour as this one... je, je, je! And because I didn't know any other Japanese voluptuous words or have access to a really good dictionary. The 'why' behind Hinyouki is a very personal one... (back in time to 1991.... woosh!) Zaragoza, 1991: I always found sex captivating, and during my first years in the university I was more broadly open to any kind of sexual experiences than to the lectures and my own education. I found myself enthralled in front of my own reactions for a intimate-girlfriend-confidant (I don't know how to call her) and well... the history didn't finished very well! But, answering your question... I have to say that I discovered that seeing my girlfriend peeing after a exhausting and delicious love-labour was a indescribable source of erotic pleasure and sensuality. I've been always a big fan of contemporary musicians such as Xenakis, Dumitrescu, Stockhausen, Manoury, Avram... but I always know that their sound should be more gratificating, more stimulating and dissolute. So I choose to make it; the sound, the ideas and the depictions where far deep in my uterus, but first I have to found it. As I've been learning piano during more than five years, I choose to use that knowledge to make my own sound. My first experiments were a pure horror... I assure you! Impossible worst! But I keep trying and due a turn of the destiny I come upon the boyfriend of my girlfriend that shows me the secrets of the distortion pedals and the digital standards (and another 'kind' of knowledges). So I spend some money and with too much work I release my first tape "Hinyouki 01".

Q: What influences Hinyouki and what types of music are your favourites? Bands and genres?

Crypt: The philosophy behind Hinyouki it's a very Freudian one, because of the cited obscene concepts in which we are based. We see ourselves as musicians in an "acoustic-anal phase". We sense an urgency, an unspeakable necessity to explore our sexuality, our feelings and our reactions to the so called extreme tendencies; and I'm speaking not only in the sexual parcel, moreover into the musical and personal parcel too. Personally my favourite artist are Zan Hoffman, Iron Youth, Aube, Il Mestruo delle Puttane, Mourmansk 150, K2, D-503, Loki, Dissecting Table, Esplendor Geométrico, Sweet Sound of the Burning Child, Man Manly, The Cease, Lesbiana Acuática, Luasa Raelon, etc. Other genres that I also like are: goth, techno pop, EBM, etc.

Cristina: Influences are just a ton, to cite some Iannis Xenakis, Iancu Dumitrescu, Merzbow, Black Light Orchestra, Ana-Maria Avram, Âmes Sanglantes, Fckn'Bstrds, Second Violin, Fetisch Park, Facialmess, Skinny Puppy, Outermoss, Il Mestruo delle Puttane, Muslimgauze, The Earwigs, etc. My actual favourite bands are Basket of Death, Necrobestiality, Blank Banner, Ghoul, Dolores Haze, etc. As you could see my present favourites are more pornogrind oriented.

Q: What is your political and religious beliefs?

Crypt & Cristina: Like almost everybody in Spain we don't have any kind of specific political or religious beliefs. We are the results of mixing up the Francisco Franco Bahamonde extreme right-religious dictatorial regimen and the past eight years of socialistic P.S.O.E government with the present right-center pro-U.S.A government of Mr. José María Aznar.

Q: How many official releases does Hinyouki have?

Crypt: If I'm not wrong thirty seven official releases right now: eighteen made alone by Hinyouki, eleven splits and/or splits+remixes, and eight collaborations in compilations. There are more official releases that are on way, the split with Armenia, the collaboration with Elisanois, another collaboration with The Earwigs, a split+remixes with F2CR, and two tracks for two compilations. Oh! I almost forget that the Australian label Smell the Stench is going to re-release the split between Hinyouki and Luasa Raelon, and the U.K. label HalloGallo is going to re-release the split+remixes between Hinyouki and V. That makes a total of forty five official releases.

Q: How many members are in the band?

Cristina: Only two, Crypt Vihâra (sound sources, digital mastering & postal / e-mail management) and me, Cristina Bosco (composition, remixes and artwork).

Q: How old are you guys?

Crypt: I'm thirty years old and Cristina was born on 1970 (isn't very polite to ask a woman her age, don't you think so?)

Q: Are you or any of your members involved in side projects?

Cristina: Not in this moment, but I have in the past two years a side-project called "Esclavas Redencionistas del Inmaculado Virgo de Rapha·el". I have to close it because of the lack of time.

Crypt: Yes, I have an ambient noise solo-project called Some Asian Females Bodybuilders. A mixture of deep and harsh noise influenced by Aube and Merzbow, with the personality of some bodybuilders like Akemi Yoshida, Utaku Mizuma, Kim Keum-Ja, etc. Some Asian Females Bodybuilders is a pure form of noise that will penetrate your ears!

Q: What is it like living in Spain?

Crypt: Isn't very good. My living-space is a little room of 5 x 4 m. in my fathers's house full of books, tapes, CD-Rs, lead military miniatures and an heterogeneous collection of low-quality posters. Spain is going through a serious economic and social recession, so be independence it's impossible for me and the 1973's generation.

Cristina: I don't live in Spain, in fact I don't have an stable place because of my job. I was born in Zaragoza (Spain), but I'm always travelling, right now I'm in a suite in an Arnhem hotel!

Q: What is the imagery you are trying to convey through the porn media you have chosen?

Cristina: First of all, our preferred imaginary or the pictures of Japanese girls pissing isn't an japnoise's influence. As I always said seeing a woman pissing makes me crazy!! While I accept this fact, back in 1990's I search in Internet for stuff of this kind and I found many pictures of Japanese girls pissing, so I use it for the artwork (I have many of european women but the Asiatic bodies are extremely exotic to me).

Q: Are there any other bands around the scene there we should look out for?

Crypt: Esplendor Geométrico, Lesbiana Acuática, Bronson, Panorama, Música Veneno, etc.

Q: What are your favorite books, art, movies, or TV shows?

Cristina & Crypt: "Xena the Warrior Princess" and "The Charmed Ones"!!!

Q: What can we expect from you guys next?

Crypt: Apart of "Barbie goes hooker", we have new collaborations with Socialistic Jonny Goblet, Armenia, Elisanoise, F2CR and The Earwigs.

Cristina: Barbie goes hooker, Barbie goes hooker, Barbie goes hooker, Barbie goes hooker, Barbie goes hooker!! Oh, God I'm having an orgasm!!!!!

Q: What is your involvement Barbie is a Bitch Zine?

Cristina: We have crucified the fucked Barbie bitch but she didn't die, she resurrected and now it's a hooker with a international health certified to anal, oral and vaginal sex intercourse with men, women, she-males, animals, death bodies, unusual objects... I guess what the Mattel people are thinking about?

Crypt: Well... again, I have to add the serious answer... Barbie is a bitch was a new international fanzine devoted to noise, avant-garde, experimental, pornogrind & more. We started the first issues of Barbie is a bitch with more than 32 pages Xeroxed at L1 format (11 cm x 30 cm) delicately covered with an erotic pink sleeve illustrated with cheap pornography, the kind we all love! All went very well until issue #4... the problems started in February of 2003, some of the Barbie's staff weren't too happy with the present format due the high prices of the Xeroxing and the trade policy (at Barbie is a bitch we just wanted to promote noise, avant-garde, experimental, pornogrind & more, for this reason our issues were totally free, and available only by trade. In exchange people you send us whatever they want, obviously related to the main subjects at Barbie is a bitch: demos, vinyls, tapes, CDRs, CDs, DVDs, posters, stickers, T-shirts, mugs, fanzines, magazines, books, even their amateur pornographic photographs!) Apart from this, part of the staff, me included, suffered serious labour problems due the Spanish economic recession (we were fired and started a new job with less or none free time). The interest from the people has been always very high so we made a one-month stormbraining and give birth to a new project: Barbie goes hooker. As Cristina said "we crucified the young and bitch Barbie" and one-month later "she resurrected" in a new and totally awesome format. Soon, Barbie goes hooker will be the first international audio-fanzine devoted to noise, avant-garde, experimental, pornogrind & more. We're going to start the first issue at a 74 min. Audio-CDR delicately covered with an erotic pink sleeve illustrated with cheap pornography, as always. It will be very similar to an old radio program, with interviews, advertisements, etc. We're sure this time Barbie will be a glorious gang-bang!

Q: Anything you want to add?

Cristina & Crypt: Thanks for you for your support and friendship. Noise needs more people like you.
